10sec and 30 sec Work Capacity
About This Test
Tri-level Alactic Power Test Information This
test is generally referred to as an intermediate- term anaerobic test. These
types of tests range in length from about 20 to 50 seconds. They are designed to
assess the ability of the muscle groups involved to utilise the anaerobic system
to generate power and maintain work (capacity) during intense exercise.
A
biproduct of this type of exercise test is the significant production of lactic
acid. The high concentration of muscle (and blood) lactic acid ultimately affect
the ability of the muscles to continue to work and this is seen as a decline in
performance during the final stages of the tests. High peak power and total work
performed in these tests are indicative of a well developed anaerobic energy
system. This allows rapid conversions of glucose (or glycogen) through
glycolysis to produce large quantities of high energy molecules called ATP.
ATP
is used to power the cross-bridges within the muscle which provides movements.
